Cute Christmas Advent Calendar!

I know for some of you it’s a little early to be mentioning Christmas but seriously it will be here before we know it!! So today’s tutorial is some super cute advent bunting!

Hi, I’m Julie and I blog at www.mackandmabel.blogspot.co.uk

Today I’m sharing a project to get you super organized for Christmas.

This is Christmas bunting, but with a difference!

Each pennant is in fact a little pocket in which you can secure a small gift. This is an advent calendar bunting!

Each pocket is numbered and is secured with a ribbon loop and button so there will be no peeking before the right day.

You can choose to place all the bunting in one length, in which case it will be just under 3 ½ metres long, or you can split it in two as I did. They can then hang one underneath the other across a chimney breast, a door, or on a child’s bedroom wall.

You could also hang them vertically from a ribbon instead of bunting style…the choice is yours.

To make the bunting you will need 7 fat quarters of Christmas fabric. I just love the red and aqua combo of the prints that Justine sent me.

You will also need:

Bias binding tape

Narrow ribbon for the button loops

25 small buttons

A small piece of solid white for the numbers

Bondaweb or other fusible to secure the numbers in place.

Of course you could applique the numbers, but we all know how busy we get in the run up to Christmas, right?

The full instructions for the making the bunting, along with step by step photos and templates for the bunting and numbers can be downloaded here:

I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did!

Well I’m sure you’ll agree this is a fabulous tutorial and to hep you on your way with all things Christmassy we’re offering 20% OFF everything in our Christmas Category until the end of the month!! Use code Xmas20

An evening with LUKE Haynes

In association with LeedsMQG we are very excited to be bringing you an evening with LUKE Haynes.

Luke is an American designer and artist with a very unique style. As can be seen from this selection of his work, these are not only quilts but pieces of art, Luke’s background in architecture influences his creations in fabric art.

Luke will be sharing with us stories of his work, his history and the inspiration behind some of his pieces. We will have a chance to view a handpicked selection of his amazing quilts and finally Luke will be hosting a Q&A session answering all of our questions. We’re assured when you’ve heard about and seen Luke’s work there will be many questions!

We feel very honoured to be hosting this evening with Luke, his work appears in many exhibitions in America and around the world and for one night only he will be bringing his show to us in Yorkshire!

You can find out a little more about the man and his amazing work over on his website.

The evening is to be hosted at the Simply Solids new HQ in Huddersfield, on
